Deutsch UK unveils its Lightest Sensor Connector to the World at Autosport International 2010

Deutsch UK has developed the smallest diameter and lightest AS sensory connector, the AS Xtra-Lite (ASX), launched to the motor racing world at the Autosport International exhibition held at Birmingham NEC in January. Deutsch has reduced the weight of its previous micro ASU connector by a massive 23 per cent, offering racing teams the perfect solution when space is at its most restrictive.

Deutsch’s ASX connector created a strong buzz amongst the different motor racing team members at the show, in particular Formula 1. With Deutsch’s lighter connectors, such as the ASX, it provides racing teams with the opportunity to choose where to distribute weight within their vehicles to help improve performance. The ASX 3 way is the first in a new range of extra lightweight micro AS connectors, and will be followed by a 5 way version to be launched later in 2010.

In its 20th year, Autosport International is the largest dedicated trade motorsport engineering show in Europe, which uniquely caters for the industry and motorsport fans alike. The 2010 exhibition attracted over 85,000 visitors and covered all areas of motorsport, both professional as well as grass roots, from karting right up to World Rally and Formula 1.

With new regulations, testing of new products is restricted for many racing teams, which has had a knock-on-effect on the length of time new technologies and components take to come to market. Therefore, this exhibition is vital as it offers us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our new connectors and their benefits.
